Mystic Seaport, ho!

Shiver me timbers! (That’s the pirate version of “holy crap”!) Mystic Seaport is beautiful! In such a small port town and not much time to see it all, we had trouble deciding where to begin the day. Although George was the master behind this plan, Ray took over with wide-eyed excitement. The Mystic Seaport Museum of America and the Seas became our main destination because it seemed like a good all-in-one type stop to capture the essence of this wondrous place. Keep going...

A birthday in Connecticut fashion — yankee doodle jazzy!

To be honest, it never occurred to me when we began this journey that I would be celebrating my birthday in whichever strange city we happened to be passing through on May 20. But nonetheless, here we are in Hartford, Connecticut. You don’t hear much about this place. Maybe I would hear someone say their mom’s friend had a summer home on a lake in Connecticut, but other than that I couldn’t tell you much. The people here practically speak in code, using one small town to reference another one. After crossing the New York border, what I can say is coming from neon lights, caffeine highs, and that NYC adrenaline, the lackadaisical atmosphere of “the Constitution State” was welcomed by everyone.
