The adventures of Iowa in Adventureland!

Our arduous trek through the German settlement of the Amana colonies led us to the capital and most populous city of Iowa. The capitol building was pretty intense compared to others I’ve seen. I can say that with authority now that I have become something of an expert on capitol buildings. It had not one–not two–but five domes! And one of them is GOLD-plated. It looked like a palace. In preparation for Halloween, yesterday George took us to the West Bend Cemetery in the morning before we headed into West Bend and the Grotto. We sat among the graves and George said, in a very serious tone, “Tomorrow is Halloween. I will make a proposition to you. Now, obviously, I’m going to be Han Solo. Your mother will be Leia. This year is no different than the others. And that is it. No arguments. Now, I am willing to drive to a costume store and get you two whatever costumes you want.” Keep going...
